This tutorial provides step-by-step instructions on how to remove and replace the display assembly on an Alienware 16 Aurora AC16250/Alienware 16X Aurora AC16251. In this video, we will demonstrate how to replace the display assembly on the Alienware 16 or 16x Aurora. Lift the Mylar off the system board to access the wireless card. Then remove the screw that secures the wireless card. Lift the wireless card bracket off the wireless card. Then disconnect the antenna cables. Slide and remove the wireless card at an angle from its slot.
Open the display lid of the computer and place it upright in a tent configuration. Let's move on to removing the rear cap by removing the five black screws that secure the cap to the assembly. Be careful not to remove the two silver colored screws.
Remove the two screws that secure the center bar to the palm rest and keyboard assembly. Apply pressure at the location above the power adapter port. Insert a scribe into the gap shown to disengage the securing hook. Gently pry the center bar away from the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
To remove the display assembly, remove the antenna cables from the routing guides on the system board and from the side of the left fan. Remove the antenna cables from the routing guide near the right hinge cover. Open the latch and disconnect the camera cable from the system board.
Then disconnect the display cable from the connector on the system board. Lift the display cable and camera cable away. Open the display to a 90 degree angle and place the computer at the edge of a flat table. Remove the two screws that secure the right hinge. Remove the two screws that secure the left hinge. Slide a display assembly out from the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
To replace the display assembly, start by placing the palm rest and keyboard assembly at the edge of a flat table. Open the hinges of the display assembly to a 90 degree angle. Align the screw holes on the display hinges, with the screw holes on the palm rest and keyboard assembly. Then replace the four screws. Close the display assembly and turn the computer to face the rear of the computer.
Route the display cable through the routing guides then, connect the display cable to the LCD one connector on the system board. Then close the latch to secure it. Connect the camera cable to the cam one connector on the system board, then close the latch to secure it. Route the antenna cables through the routing guides near the right hinge cover. Route the antenna cables through the routing guides on the system board and side of the left fan.
To replace the center bar, open the display lid of the computer and place it upright in a tent configuration. Snap a center bar into position on the palm rest and keyboard assembly. Align the screw holes on the center bar with the screw holes on the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
Then replace the two screws. Place the rear cap into position, aligning the screw holes on the rear cap with the screw holes on the palm rest and keyboard assembly. Replace the five screws that secure the rear cap to the palm rest and keyboard assembly. Connect the antenna cables to the wireless card.
Align the notch on the wireless card with the tab on the wireless card slot. Then insert the wireless card an angle into the slot. Align and replace the screw that secures the wireless card bracket to the wireless card and the system board. Replace the Mylar that covers the wireless card.
