Fixes:
- This release contains security updates as disclosed in the Dell Security Advisories DSA-2024-036, DSA-2023-364, DSA-2023-467, DSA-2023-344, DSA-2023-362, DSA-2023-191, and DSA-2023-449. For more information, see Dell Security Advisories and Notices.
- Fixed the issue where the system reboots repeatedly and stops responding at the Dell Logo. This issue occurs when a system with an NVIDIA graphics card is connected to an 8K monitor.
- Fixed the issue where the Admin Unlock window in the BIOS setup stops responding or the system reboots automatically. This issue occurs when you enter the wrong Master Password in the system password prompt by pressing CTRL+Enter.
- Fixed the issue where you cannot resume the system from Sleep mode. This issue occurs when the system is connected to a dock.
- Fixed the issue where the battery shows as fail after the hardware scan in the SupportAssist.
- Fixed the issue where the 2A8W LED error code is displayed when the system enters or exit sleep mode and the graphics driver is not installed. This issue occurs with the Dell Precision 7780 systems.
- Fixed the issue where the internal panel does not work when the system enters or exit sleep mode. This issue occurs when the graphics driver is not installed in the system.
- Fixed the issue where you cannot boot the system through the Dell Power Button Sync (DPBS) monitor. This issue occurs after you enable USB Power Share in the BIOS setup.
- Fixed the issue where the power button LED does not light up for over 40 seconds after you connect the AC adapter.
- Fixed the issue where the battery power consumption is high when the system is in Sleep mode.

Enhancements:
- Added the Dell SafeBIOS preboot screen.
- Improved the battery performance.

Important Information

- Intel discontinues the non-TLS network communication support for Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) and Intel Standard Manageability. For more information, see Non-TLS EOL for Intel AMT and Intel Standard Manageability.
- Once the BIOS is upgraded, you cannot downgrade the BIOS to version 1.7.0 or earlier. BIOS downgrades are restricted when there are security updates and important fixes with earlier versions that impact the functionality of the system.
- BIOS updates take no more than 5 minutes to be installed on your system. You can install the updates in the background while using the system.

Installation instructions

Updating the BIOS from Windows

Note 1: Before updating the BIOS, ensure that you suspend BitLocker encryption on a BitLocker-enabled system. If BitLocker is not enabled on your system, you can ignore this step. For information about how to disable BitLocker, see How to Enable or Disable BitLocker with TPM in Windows at support.dell.com.
Note 2: Do not turn off power or interrupt the BIOS update process during the update.
Note 3: Your system requires a restart after installing the BIOS. The restart can be deferred but must be completed to ensure that the update is installed.

Download and Installation
1. Click Download File.
2. Click Save to save the file to your hard drive.
3. Browse to the location where you downloaded the file.
4. Double-click the new file.
The system restarts automatically and updates the BIOS at the system startup screen. After the BIOS update is complete, system restarts again.

Updating the BIOS from BIOS Boot Menu (independent of operating system)

Note 1: Before updating the BIOS, ensure that you suspend BitLocker encryption on a BitLocker-enabled system. If BitLocker is not enabled on your system, you can ignore this step. For information about how to disable BitLocker, see How to Enable or Disable BitLocker with TPM in Windows at support.dell.com.
Note 2: Do not turn off the power or interrupt the BIOS update process during the update.
Note 3: Your system requires a restart after installing the BIOS. The restart can be deferred but must be completed to ensure that the update is installed.

Installation
1. Copy the downloaded file to a USB drive. You do not need a bootable USB drive.
2. Insert the USB drive into any USB port.
3. Power on the system.
4. At the DELL logo screen, press F12 to access the one-time boot menu.
5. Select BIOS UPDATE in the Pre-Boot Tasks.
6. Click the Flash from file to browse the USB drive to locate the downloaded file.
7. Select the file and click Submit.
8. Verify the existing system BIOS information and the BIOS update information.
9. Click Update BIOS!
10. Confirm Flash BIOS and click Confirm Update BIOS! to proceed with the update.
The system restarts and displays a Flash Progress bar at the Dell logo screen. The system restarts again when the Flash update is complete.
