The following changes have been made to BIOS rev A02 to create A03:
1. Fixed potential hang issue with some graphics cards.
2. Updated support for detecting > 4GB memory configurations.
3. Added support for Intel's Enhanced Speedstep Technology.
4. Fixed detection issues with some combinations of ATA/ATAPI devices.
5. Enhanced BIOS default function in setup to detect proper RAID setting.
6. Prevent potential hang issue on no-video configurations when booting to USB.
7. Updated support for newer Processors (new CPUs, new microcode for current CPUs).
8. Update USB support to handle semi-broken hubs.
9. Update support to handle SETUP requests when video doesn't support mode 103h.
10. Update support for PCMCIA/Cardbus adapters.
11. Fixed support for hard drives smaller than 528M.
12. Update support for non-exact match of CPU's in either socket.
13. Increase allowable PCI address space by 256MB
14. Enhanced reported maximum supported processor speed
15. Enhanced CPU thermal management.
16. Enhanced keyboard support for password routines.
17. Enhnaced SMART messaging to always update the event log.
18. Enhanced error reporting for bad processors.
19. Improved Interrupt Handling.
20. Fixed power managment compatability with some PCI devices.
21. Fixed non-operatiknoal floppy issue when booting to CD.
22. Update to latest Intel Memory Reference Code.
23. Improved remote PXE boot support.
24. Enhanced Boot List Support when using external tools to set boot list.
25. Improved Win2K power management support.
26. Updated support for lo-speed USB devices.
The file WS670A03.EXE is using the Universal (Windows/MS DOS) format and is designed to be directly executed from Windows environment.
Click Download now. The Export Compliance Agreement appears.
Read the Export Compliance Agreement.
If you agree, click to select I agree.. The File Download window appears.
Click the Save button. The Save As window appears.
Select Desktop using the drop-down menu to the right of Save in.
Click the Save button. A progress meter moves as the download is completed.
If necessary, click X in the upper right-hand corner of the Download Progress Window to close it upon completion.
NOTE: Shut down all other applications prior to running the BIOS update utility. The update utility reboots your system in order to get the new BIOS loaded.
Run the BIOS update utility from Windows environment
Double click the Icon on your desktop labeled WS670A03.EXE. The Dell BIOS Flash window appears
Click the Continue button. The message Pressing OK will close all applications, shut down Windows, Flash the BIOS, then reboot. appears.
Click the OK button. The system will restart and the BIOS Flash will be completed.
Run the BIOS update utility from MS DOS environment (Non-Windows users)
NOTE: You will need to provide a bootable DOS diskette. This executable file does not create the MS DOS system files.
Copy the file WS670A03.EXE to a bootable floppy.
Boot from the floppy to the MS DOS prompt.
Run the file by typing Y:\WS670A03.EXE (where y is the drive letter where the executable is located).
