Symptoms
After Re-imaging a Unity array, it fails to boot on SPA with rescue reason 0x0b00 BOOTFL and SPB as rescue reason 0xFC0B0304 - Image failed integrity check
Cause
Attempting to re-image an array after a UnityClear Sanitize erase operation is causing the array not to boot and drives to report 03/31/80 errors and fbe_cli_physical_drive_display_info - DEATH REASON: (FBE_SAS_PHYSICAL_DRIVE_DEATH_REASON_UNEXPECTED_FAILURE). This indicates that the drive sanitize operation was interrupted and drives will report format corrupt 03/31/80 in response to the incomplete operation. This can happen if power was removed from the array or enclosure or drives were pulled while erase was in process. The error response from the drive is normal in this circumstance.
Resolution
Dell Support needs to rerun the UnityClear process to properly erase the drives and return them to normal operation and ready for re-imaging. UnityClear instructions are required to be followed completely ensuring drives are not powered off while the process is underway.
