PowerProtect Data Manager: FS DR Backup is Failing Due to Unable to Open Some File or Directory

PowerProtect Data Manager(PPDM) Windows FS agent DISASTER RECOVERY backup failing with error code ABF0001 and error message:

ddfssv Error: Unable to open xxx the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

There is no permission to open this file or directory.

1. Open or create the file C:\Program Files\DPSAPPS\fsagent\settings\.ddfssv.fsagentconfig and add the following line

   --exclude_filesnottobackup=true

2. Set the following registry key on the problem servers to exclude the certain location.

   • Path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\BackupRestore\FilesNotToBackup
   • Key Name: exclude_xxx (can be any name)
   • Key Type: REG_MULTI_SZ
   • Key value: C:\xxx\xxx\*.* /s

   For example, if the error is "Unable to open C:\ProgramData\test," then we can set like below:

   • Key Name: exclude_test
   • Key Type: REG_MULTI_SZ
   • Key value: C:\ProgramData\test\*.* /s

3. Restart PowerProtect agent service on the problem server.
