Symptomer
- Alert message indicating high disk temperature, for example:
Temperature of Encl 1 <serialno> Disk <x> is moderately high: threshold 45°C - CLI or Auto-Support output from
# disk show reliability-datashows disk temperatures typically above 40°C.
Applies To:
- All Data Domain systems and shelves
- All software releases
Årsag
The most common causes of disk overheating include:
- Poor ventilation
- Inappropriate cabinet design
- Airflow obstruction
- Fan failures
Løsning
✅ Environmental Verification Checklist for Disk Overheating Issues
1. Cabinet & Ventilation
- Confirm cabinet type: Server-grade cabinet (not glass-door networking cabinet).
- Verify front and rear doors have ≥65% open area for airflow.
- Ensure cabinet doors and panels are not obstructed.
2. Airflow
- Check airflow direction: Front-to-rear cooling is unobstructed.
- Remove any objects blocking airflow at the front or rear of the system.
3. Room Conditions
- Measure ambient room temperature: Within recommended range (typically 18–27°C).
- Verify air-conditioning is operational and cooling effectively.
4. Hardware Health
- Inspect system fans: All fans running normally.
- Check for any hardware alerts related to cooling or fan failures.
5. Additional Checks
- Confirm no other equipment in the cabinet is generating excessive heat.
- Review AutoSupport or CLI (
disk show reliability-data) for temperature trends.
