Symptomer

The following errors show in the backup log:

avsql Error <40258>: sqlconnectimpl_smo::execute Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Common.ExecutionFailureException: An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Cannot find server certificate with thumbprint '0x4249D087641E4C7F4D311A3144A229851857F263'. Årsag

An SQL Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) enabled database prevents a redirected restore due to the missing TDE certificate. 

Løsning

To verify TDE is enabled on an SQL database, query the database using SQL command prompt.
  • If TDE is enabled, then "is_encrypted" is "1"
 
To resolve this issue, the certificate must manually be applied to the SQL instance prior to initiating the restore. 
  • Consult Microsoft for assistance.
