Symptomer

Observed Alert.

  • CTL40 Alert

Årsag

Multi‑bit Error Encountered During I/O Operations.

An error involving multiple bits has been detected while performing a read or write operation. The error‑correction algorithm recalculates parity data for each operation.

  • Multiple‑bit errors indicate that more than one data bit is corrupted.
  • Single‑bit errors can often be corrected by the algorithm, preserving parity.
  • Multi‑bit errors generally signify data loss.
  • If the multi‑bit error occurs during a read, the underlying disk data may still be intact.
  • If the multi‑bit error occurs during a write, the data being written is lost.

Løsning

Replace the Dual inline Memory Module (DIMM). The DIMM is a part of the controller battery pack. Refer to the storage hardware documentation for information about replacing the DIMM. You may have to restore data from backup.
