How to Gather a vc-support 

  1. Log in with SSH to the vCSA.

  2. Since it logs in to the Appliance Shell in default, run the shell.set --enabled True command and shell command to launch the Bash.

  • Run the vc-support -l command to create a vc-support log bundle.
    When gather is completed:
    Confirm that log bundle is created with the name that is displayed at the command execution.
    In this article, "/storage/log/vc-vcsaxxxxx.xxxxxxx.local-2019-02-27-02.02-47743.tgz" is the log bundle name.

  • Log in to the vCSA using the SCP, copy the created vc-support log bundle to your machine.

    Note: If you use the WinSCP as an SCP tool, run the chsh -s /bin/bash root command to change the vCSA default shell to the Bash shell and use the WinSCP (run in step 2 after the Bash launched).
    If you return the default shell to the Appliance Shell, run the chsh -s /bin/appliancesh root command.

  • Send the copied vc-support log bundle to Dell Technical Support.
