Symptoms
When attempting a raw read and raw open from a Centera IP to an ECS IP, the following error can be seen below.
ERROR: Writing clip (com.filepool.fplibrary.FPClip@1234567.Write()) - com.filepool.fplibrary.FPLibraryException: Discriminator [G416C2TF2HB1ABCDEFGHIJKL] format not accepted (basename[BasicBaseName: 19215TEG7CIOGEABCDEFGHIJK]) (transid='ecs-sync.domain/13/WRITE_CLIP'), code: -10005 [Thread-1] CenteraSDK.java:2261 at 2017-02-07 00:35:35,125 NetworkPacket.checkControl(8)<HPPWriteBlobTransaction::run()
A similar error can be seen in the migration application log or the SDK log if initiated.
Cause
ECS only supports the native CAS API when migrating and writing to a CAS enabled bucket. The ECS Release Notes outlines this below:
"Migration is not supported through sync or native migration because ECS does not take XAM clips. Migration of XAM clips should be done by the customer using native CAS SDK."
Resolution
The ECS Release Notes documents this limitation. Any objects written with the XAM API that must be migrated to the ECS needs a prior conversion.
