Symptoms
The Precision 7875 Tower cannot boot to a PXE server and continue to boot to the Operating System (OS). This happens when you set the BIOS settings to the following:
- Wake-on-LAN (WOL) is set to "LAN with PXE Boot"
- Deep Sleep is set to "Disabled" with the Realtek 1G NIC card to wake from S5 sleep (shut down)
Cause
The Precision 7875 Tower cannot find the PCIe endpoint LAN device Power Management Event (PME) status. This causes the computer to be unable to boot to PXE when WOL is set.
Resolution
PXE Boot Settings
To resolve this behavior, manually change the following settings in the BIOS:
- Set "Deep Sleep" to "Enable S4/S5" (Default)
- Set "Boot Sequence" to "Onboard Realtek 1G LOM" or "NIC X710 DA2" card for PXE boot.
