PowerProtect: vSphere Installation Bundle deployment fails with error code ABV0032

Configuration jobs fail with error messages similar to the following when deploying or updating PowerProtect Data Manager vSphere Installation Bundle for Transparent Snapshot Data Mover (TSDM): 

ABV0032: VM Direct Engine is unable to configure protection for the host "ESXi Host" on vCenter "VCenterName"

An error message similar to the following is reported under the error details section:

Unable to install vSphere Installation Bundle on host "ESXi Host". vCenter task is failed with /usr/sbin/esxupdate returned with exit status: 15

On vCenter server, storage scan is required. Without that, error messages similar to the following are reported in the esxupdate log file on the Broadcom ESXi host:
