Symptoms

Prior to CloudLink release 7.1.2, if the SDS drive letters changed following a reboot, the encryption mapper names would change and this could result in PowerFlex device errors. CloudLink encrypted PowerFlex SDS device errors appear after reboot. | Dell US
CloudLink release 7.1.2 introduced a change to the encryption mapper names to better handle the drive letter changing during a reboot.   This required a manual change to the new mapper names in PowerFlex when upgrading CloudLink to 7.1.2 .
This mapper change will be reverted back to the original mapper names of /dev/svm_sdX  in CloudLink release 7.1.5 .   Instead, PowerFlex 4.0.1 will be able to handle device letter changes without any device errors.

To avoid having to manually change the mapper names in PowerFlex when upgrading CloudLink, it is recommended that PowerFlex users upgrade CloudLink from 7.1 or 7.1.1 directly to 7.1.5 and avoid upgrading to 7.1.2/7.1.3/7.1.4 .

Cause

CloudLink encryption mapper was changed in release 7.1.2, and reverted back to the original mapper in release 7.1.5 .

Resolution
