Symptoms

After the deployment of ViPR SRM, the centralized management system was unable to connect to any of the hosts, including localhost.
The following error message can be seen in Tomcat's catalina logs:

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: hostname can't be null

 

Cause

This is caused by using an underscore "_" in the hostname.

 

Resolution

Dell Technologies engineering is investigating a fix in a future release, in the mean while do not use underscores "_" in the hostname.
