Introduction

 

Dell Pair is a software utility that is available on certain Dell platforms and supports seamlessly pairing to Dell Bluetooth devices. (Bluetooth devices such as your wireless mouse or keyboard.) When Dell Pair is enabled, the utilities User Interface (UI) automatically prompts pairing with any Dell Bluetooth device within Bluetooth detection range of the Dell computer.

Software Requirements

 

The Dell Pair application has the following requirements:

  • Windows 11
  • Windows 10 (Version 19041 and above.)
  • Uses the Intel Bluetooth controller 
  • Bluetooth Version 5.0 or higher
  • Bluetooth is enabled

Installing Dell Pair

 

    You can manually download and install the utility from the applications Dell Support drivers and downloads page:

    Note: You need administrator privileges to make software changes to your Dell computer.
     
    1. Browse to Dell Pair Drivers & Downloads.

    2. Identify your Dell computer:

      1. Click Download and Install SupportAssist to auto-detect your Dell computer, if you do not know the service tag or model. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Dell SupportAssist. For more information, see the Dell knowledge base article: Dell SupportAssist (formerly Dell System Detect): Overview and Common Questions.

      2. Enter the Service Tag or Model No. of your laptop and click Search.

      3. Or click Browse all products and select your Dell computer from the catalog.

    3. Select the Operating System that is installed on the Dell computer.

    4. Under Category, select Application.

    5. Locate the Dell Pair software package.

    6. Click Download and save the file to your Dell computer.

    7. Open File Explorer and browse to the location where downloaded files are saved.

    8. Double-click the downloaded setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.

    Dell Pair Features

     

    The Dell Pair notification appears automatically. It appears when a Bluetooth device that supports detection by Dell Pair is turned on and is within detection range of the Dell computer.

    When the UI appears, you can click Pair to seamlessly pair the Dell Bluetooth device with the Dell computer.

    You open the user interface for the Dell Pair application from the start menu:

    • Start Menu
      • Dell

        • Dell Pair

    From the Dell Pair user interface, you can change the Dell Pair setting. You can enable or disable the Dell Pair application by sliding the switch to either the ON or OFF position.

    Troubleshooting

     

    Problems Possible solutions
    Dell Pair notification does not open when a Dell Bluetooth device is turned on for the first time
    • Windows 10 (version 19041) is the oldest version to support Dell Pair
    • Bluetooth version 5.0 or higher is required
    • Bluetooth is supported on the Dell computer. It is turned ON under Windows settings
    • The Dell Bluetooth device supports detection by Dell Pair
    • The Dell Bluetooth device is placed close to the detection range of the computer
    • Check the Dell computer and the Dell Bluetooth device both have sufficient battery charge to operate
    • The Dell Bluetooth device has the latest firmware
    • The Bluetooth controller on the Dell computer is from Intel
    • Power cycle the Dell Bluetooth device
    Dell Pair reports a pairing error
    1. If the Dell Bluetooth device is brought near the Dell computer and is in pairing mode, the Dell pair UI aids pairing
    2. Wait for the pairing error User Interface (UI) to auto-dismiss
    3. Move the Dell Bluetooth device far away from the Dell computer (For example: To a distance greater than 40 cm (15.75 inches))
    4. Bring the Dell Bluetooth device slowly back near the Dell computer
    5. Ensure that the Dell Bluetooth device is in pairing mode. Ensure that the pairing LED starts to blink
