Symptoms

PowerEdge R650 shows noncompliance due to a failed update attempt on the "2U Non-Expander Backplane Firmware," causing the issue to persist.
DSU debug logs may contain the following error:

"Unable to complete the firmware update operation because the specified firmware image is for a component that is not in the target system inventory or the component is disabled for performing the update."

Cause

This occurs if OME or DSU are loading the Enterprise Catalog versions 24.08.03 or older or the ESXi Catalog for Enterprise Servers 2024.06 and older.

This firmware only applies to a specific backplane only supported with server models based on a 2U chassis yet. The R650 is an unsupported 1U chassis.

Resolution

This issue is fixed with Enterprise Catalog 2024.08.12 and newer and ESXi Catalog for Enterprise Servers 2024.10 and newer.

If an older catalog is wanted for use with OME Update Manager Plugin (UMP) or Dell Repository Manager (DRM), then manually delete the existing file "Firmware_KW60H_WN64_7.10_A00_07.EXE" from the repository.
Download the backplane's DUP file and Import either UMP or DRM to manually import the DUP file into the repository which does not contain R650 as a supported server.
