AppSync: While attempting to add a new PowerMax to AppSync, a popup is recevied stating an exception in getDeviceMaskingGroups

Symptoms

While adding the PowerMax and progressing to step 4 to specify groups and pools, a pop up error is received stating: 
VMAX operation failed. Error: getDeviceMAskingGroups:: archwayexception:null
 
VMAX operation failed. Error: getDeviceMAskingGroups:: archwayexception:null

The AppSync Server log will show: 
<date time>  ERROR [default task-1] [com.emc.archway.restapi.restresources.vmax.ManagedStorageSystemInstancesResource] [as-serv] [] 40f25299-1683-46ea-948c-5e7b51ee74d0->>> Exception Occurred: VmaxOperationException, Message: VMAX operation failed. Error: getDeviceMaskingGroups:: archwayexception :null
