Cause

There are multiple Storage Node resources defined for the NetWorker server.

Resolution

  1. Shutdown all the NetWorker daemons on the NetWorker server

Linux: nsr_shutdown or systemctl stop networker
Windows: net stop nsrd

  1. Make a copy of the nsrdb folder. For example, nsrdb_backup.

Linux: /nsr/res/nsrdb
Windows: <INSTALL_DRIVE>:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\res\nsrdb

  1. From an elevated command prompt, cd to the /nsr/res directory
  2. Run "nsradmin -d nsrdb" to access the nsrdb in offline mode.

The following prompt appears:

NetWorker administration program.
Use the "help" command for help, "visual" for full-screen mode.
nsradmin>
  1. Enter
show name; type
  1. Enter
print type: nsr storage node

(this lists all the storage nodes which are configured of your NetWorker data zone)
  1. Enter
delete

CAUTION: carefully review the output as it presents the name of all the storage nodes which are configured on the NetWorker server. Enter "n" (no) for the remote storage nodes so they are preserved. Enter "y" (yes) to delete the NetWorker server's storage node resources. Only delete the instances of the NetWorker server storage node.
  1. When done, Enter:
quit
  1. Start the NetWorker server daemons:

Linux: systemctl start networker
Windows: net start nsrd

  1. Launch the NetWorker Management Console (NMC) for the NetWorker server. Go to the Devices->Storage Nodes window to verify there is a single instance of the NetWorker server's name.
  2. Start a backup to verify the backups can write to the NetWorker server's devices.
NOTE: If there is a mistake with the process, revert any change by stopping the NetWorker server daemons and rename the nsrdb folder and replace it with the nsrdb copy created in step 2.
