Symptoms

When plugging in or unplugging any AC power source, adapter, or dock on the left side of the screen flashes for about 0.5 seconds.

Affected Platforms:

  • Dell Pro 13 Plus PB13255
  • Dell Pro 14 PC14255
  • Dell Pro 14 Plus PB14255
  • Dell Pro 16 PC16255
  • Dell Pro 16 Plus PB16255

Cause

On AMD platforms when the power profiles available changes between Performance, Balanced, Power Saver, or the AC, the internal display configuration /sys/devices/pci:0000:00/0000:00:08.1/0000:c5:00.0/drm/card1/card1-edp-1/amdgpu/panel_power_savings also changes between 1 and 0.

The panel refreshes when display configuration changes.

Resolution

There is no resolution as this is an expected behavior.
