Instructions
The DD3300 model is based on the Dell PowerEdge R740xd server platform. It has a wide range of available features that are unnecessary to support the Data Domain Operating System (DDOS), and so are unsupported. This article is intended to distinguish between the supported and unsupported "platform" options only, and is not an exhaustive list of every capability of the DD3300. For the purposes of this article, the terms "supported" and "unsupported" are defined below. These terms may apply to any available operations, functions, features, or tools installed on the DD3300 platform.
Supported
A "supported" designation indicates that the Data Domain Development and QA teams have fully tested this feature. It means that they are prepared to sanction and offer support in its use. By doing this, the Data Domain team can guarantee that the feature exhibits expected behavior and contributes to customer satisfaction. This also ensures the integrity of the user data stored on the Data Domain.
Unsupported
An "unsupported" designation indicates that the Data Domain Development and QA teams have not and do not currently intend to fully test this feature. It means that they are not prepared to sanction or support its use. Using unsupported features may result in unexpected behavior, unintended outages, and potential damage to the user data stored on the DD3300. Support technicians may be called upon to use any of these unsupported features at the discretion of Data Domain Engineering. However, unsupported features remain unsupported for customer use.
The following DD3300 platform operations, features, functions, and tools are designated as "unsupported":
- DELL Lifecycle Manager, and all tools and functions found in the Lifecycle Manager interface.
- DELL PERC RAID controller utility (RAID is automatically provisioned and should never be manually modified)
- DELL OpenManage System Manager and DRAC tools
- All Access to the ESXi hypervisor is unsupported
- Physical KVM ports on the front and rear of the appliance are unsupported before DDOS version 6.2.x

The following DD3300 DDOS operations, features, functions, and tools are designated as "unsupported":
- Disk Assessment Tool (DATool) and Disk Benchmark CLI
- V-server

The following DD3300 platform operations, features, functions, and tools are designated as "supported" for the use cases below:
- Dell iDRAC9
- BIOS access and modification (supported only for configuring user credentials and Ethernet port configurations for the iDRAC9 port)
- Physical serial port on the rear of the appliance
