Als VxRail een aanvraag indient om een datastore op DD te maken, betekent dit in wezen het maken van een NFS-share op DD.

Zodra een NFS-share is gemaakt op DD, kan deze worden gekoppeld aan ESX, waar VxRail het kan gebruiken als datastore om VM's/VM-schijfbestanden van het ene datastore naar dit share/datastore te verplaatsen.

Additional Information

  • VMware ondersteunt zowel VMFS als NFS voor datastore.
  • Zowel de datastore ondersteunt vMotion, wat in wezen een functie is om VM's van de ene host naar de andere te verplaatsen.
  • Er is niet veel verschil tussen VMFS en NFS, behalve dat NFS een bestandssysteem op bestandsniveau is en VMFS een bestandssysteem op blokniveau.
