Symptoms
The logical node number (LNN) of an Isilon node can be changed using the 'lnnset' command inside the 'isi config' tool. Although the change takes effect immediately, the LCD front panel of the node continues to show the old node number.
Cause
The lnnset command does not notify the LCD control daemon that a change has occurred, so the daemon is not aware that an update is needed.
Resolution
The LCD daemon must be triggered to update LCD information in order for the front panel display to pick up the change. Use any of the following methods to update the LCD information:
1. Restart the LCD daemon to update the LCD panel using the following command:
2. Instruct the LCD daemon to reset and update the LCD panel using the following command:
3. Remove the front panel from the node, wait 30 s, and then reseat it. The front panel display may take up to 60 s to start up. When finished, it should light up and display the new node number.
4. Reboot the node.
1. Restart the LCD daemon to update the LCD panel using the following command:
# isi_lcd_d restart
2. Instruct the LCD daemon to reset and update the LCD panel using the following command:
# killall -HUP isi_lcd_d
3. Remove the front panel from the node, wait 30 s, and then reseat it. The front panel display may take up to 60 s to start up. When finished, it should light up and display the new node number.
4. Reboot the node.
