Data Domain: How to import orphaned NetBackup images into NetBackup's image database
Summary: In situations where there are backup files on the Data Domain, but these are no longer present in NetBackup's image database, it's not possible to expire the files. To avoid them remaining on the Data Domain it is useful to import them into NetBackup, and then expire the unwanted backups via NetBackup which will delete them from the Data Domain. Instructions
The function required is to "Initiate Import" which will import all backup images from disk.
Once this has completed it should be possible to see the previously orphaned backups and expire them from the NetBackup catalog.
It is recommended that the appropriate NetBackup documentation be checked for the exact steps. If necessary work with Veritas or your NetBackup support provider.
