Avamar and DDboost support matrix
Summary: This Knowledge Base (KB) article aims to provide a matrix to show which DDboost version comes embedded with which Avamar version.
Instructions
While troubleshooting Avamar backup or restore issues, whether they are failures or slow performances, it might be due to an issue in the DDboost side.
Therefore in those scenarios, we must know which DDboost version is being used. In order to know if the potential ddboost fix is already in our Avamar release or not.
With that in mind, the following Matrix is available (only the most recent Avamar versions).
| DDboost version | 7.3.0.5 |
7.8.0.0 |
7.9.0.0 |
7.11.0.0 | 7.12.0.0 |

In case the Avamar release version is not listed in the above Matrix, follow one of the two methods below. These methods provide what is the DDboost version embedded into your Avamar Server.
- Search or grep for "engine" in the avtar log file of any Avamar client, as shown below
avtar Info <16684>: - Data Domain Engine (3.4.1.1 build 581249)
- The same can be achieved from the Avamar Utility Node using SSH, by running either of the two commands below:
admin@<ava-server>:~/>: grep -i engine /usr/local/avamar/var/ddrmaintlogs/ddrmaint.log | tail -1
Feb 20 18:39:30 ave-crk-751 ddrmaint.bin[26171]: Info: Data Domain Engine (3.4.1.1 build 581249)
admin@<ava-server>:~/>: strings /usr/local/avamar/lib/libDDBoost.so | grep '^[3-7]\.[0-9]\.[0-9]'
