Symptoms
Environment:
PowerPath for Solaris 6.0 P03
Customer has found a vulnerability on the SNMP when using the default community string as 'public' according to their Network Vulnerability assessment.
Cause
To fix the vulnerability, they must change the community string.
Resolution
Per the Engineering team, SNMP stopped working from PP 6.0 and we do not have any road map in SNMP starting 6.0 releases, we suggest you use PPMA instead of SNMP for receiving alerts.
If you do not use SNMP but worry about the vulnerability, you can use below ways to change the community string to a customer chosen Custom_name instead of 'public' by editing the "/lib/svc/method/emcp_mond" file.
64 $DAEMON -c public -h localhost $snmp_switch
---->
64 $DAEMON -c "Custom_name" -h localhost $snmp_switch
