Symptoms

Switch reset after bringing up an ISL post power outage

A system resets after powerup due to errors in the FDMI service. The following type of syslog messages is logged:

%CALLHOME-2-EVENT: SW_CRASH fdmi in slot 7 crashed with crash type : stateful crash
%FDMI-2-PSS_CFG_RESTORE_ERROR: Configuration restoration for runtime db failed with error 0xffffffff for key type 32800

The "show system reset-reason" has the following reset reasons:

----- reset reason for Supervisor-module 8 (from Supervisor in slot 8) ---
Reason: Reset triggered due to HA policy of Reset
Service: fdmi crashed in swover

----- reset reason for Supervisor-module 7 (from Supervisor in slot 7) ---
Reason: Reset triggered due to HA policy of Reset
Service: fdmi hap reset

 

Cause

This issue is rare and only been seen after a system powerup when bringing up an ISL.

 

Resolution

Workaround:
Disable FDMI on the hosts/HBAs.

Note: FDMI cannot be disabled on the switch.

Fix:
The fix will be in future release 6.1.19 (no current GA date available)
