Concerns about how Java licensing will affect Data Center Network Manager (DCNM) server.

Cause
Oracle is changing licensing requirements for JAVA code.
Resolution
Starting with DCNM 11.3, Cisco moved away from Oracle JRE 1.8 and started using Amazon Corretto JDK 11.0.2
- Cisco has distribution rights to include JAVA JRE in DCNM.
- DCNM 11.x includes a run time license for Java JRE 11.0.2 (JDK 11) for running java based on the DCNM server.
- If you choose to install the SAN option and use the standalone device manager (including the web based device manager) or the standalone SAN client, the Java runtime license covers running those applications when they are run locally on the DCNM. If you choose to download the standalone clients onto a separate host, like a monitoring host or a laptop, then you must acquire a license for Java JRE 11.0.2 for that host.
- There are java libraries used in DCNM that are covered under an Open Source license and are described in link provided. For version 11.3.1: https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/sw/11_3_1/licensing/Cisco_Data_Center_Network_Manager_11_3_1.pdf)
- Until 11.2(1), DCNM included commercial Oracle JRE 1.8, starting 11.3(1), DCNM has moved to Amazon Corretto JDK 11.0.2 which is an Open Source component and is captured in the link above.
- Amazon Corretto is Open Source distribution based on OpenJDK. Cisco moved from commercial Oracle Java to Open Source Java.
JAVA JRE Licenses are included with DCNM and for the Stand Alone SAN Client and Device Manager when those two apps are run on the DCNM server itself.
If you want to run the Stand Alone SAN Client or Device Manager on a remote host (user desktop client DCNM app remotely accessing the DCNM server), then you have to get your own Java license for each remote host.
