This article provides information about supported firmware and drivers that have been validated for Dell EMC Microsoft Storage Spaces Direct Ready Nodes and AX nodes.

This article is valid for Dell EMC Solutions for Microsoft Azure Stack HCI Ready Nodes and AX nodes 4.0.For AX node and Storage Spaces Direct Ready Node, Dell EMC recommends to use a Azure stack HCI catalog for a qualified set of firmware and drivers that can be used with Windows Admin Center, iDRAC, OpenManage Essentials (OME), or OpenManage Enterprise.

Azure Stack HCI Network solution

The Dell EMC Azure Stack HCI Solution supports two basic VLT network topologies supporting Cluster Node RDMA; Hyper-Converged & Non-Converged are comprised of both Top-Of-the-Rack (TOR) and Out-Of-Band (OOB) switches and as further illustrated in the sections to follow, each cluster node supports SFP+ (10Gbe) and SFP28 (25Gbe) DAC formfactor as well as the use of the QSFP/QSPF28 Quad break-out cables for the respective speeds (4x10Gbe & 4x25Gbe).  Management of the TOR switches are assumed managed “In-band” where the cluster node Out-Of-Band (OOB or iDRAC) management traverses the 1/10Gbe management switch.  

NOTE: When deploying the Hyper-Converged Topology, the Node switchports must be in Trunk Mode and configured for all Management, and Storage Networks VLANs throughout both VLT switches.

Dell EMC Networking S3048-ON (OS9)

The S3048-ON is a 1 Gbps switchport to server nodes with quad 10 Gbps uplinks switching fabric upto the DC core. 

Dell Networking S4048-ON (OS9 & OS10)

The S4128F-ON, S4148F-ON, and S4148FE-ON switches are a one rack unit (RU), full-featured fixed form-factor top-of-rack (ToR) 10/25/40/50/100GbE switch for 10G servers with small form-factor pluggable plus (SFP+), quad small form-factor pluggable plus (QSFP +), and quad small form-factor pluggable (QSFP28) ports. The S4148FE-ON also includes unified (Fibre channel and Ethernet) 10GbE SFP + and QSFP28 ports.

Dell EMC Networking S5148F (OS10)

The S5148F-ON switch is a one rack unit, full-featured, fixed form-factor top-of-rack (ToR) compact 10/25/40/50/100GbE switch. In addition, the S5148F-ON switch has 10/25GbE links for server connections and 40/50/100GbE links for clustering—virtual link trunking (VLT) and stacking—and uplinks to aggregation and core switches. The switch includes two hot-swappable AC or DC power supply units (PSUs) and four hot-swappable fan units. The S5148F-ON switch includes 54 SFP28 and QSFP28 ports for Ethernet-only configurations. The SFP28 ports support forty-eight 1/10/25GbE. The QSFP28 ports support six 40/100GbE.
