Troubleshooting Workflow:
Step 1: Check the LC Log for the error message
-
Leverage the Common iDRAC Errors module for known issues
-
This will possibly allow you to discern if it is network, method, inventory, or possibly a DUP limitation
Step 2: Validate Update Process
Catalog-based update method:
- Attempt the Update outside of the catalog
- If a single local update works, check catalog for issues
- Is the file in the downloads.dell.com location that it's supposed to be?
- Different error message for single DUP?
Network-based update method:
- Attempt the same update locally
- If a single local update works, then likely ports/protocols blocked by firewall
- May need a packet capture to prove network issues
- Different error message for single DUP?
Single Local Update Method:
- Attempt a different update that does not require a reboot, like iDRAC or Diagnostics
- If no update applies, go to Step 3
- If only a specific update fails, it is an issue with the DUP itself, the component, or LCC
- Re-flash the same FW for the component instead of an upgrade
- If re-flash is successful, then the component and the LCC should be good.
- If the component still fails to apply the second update, then go to Step 3, Drain flea power.
Step 3: Force Clear the Jobqueue
-
Can be done as the second step depending on the error message
-
Recommend a full job queue clear
racadm jobqueue delete -I JID_CLEARALL_FORCE
-
Wait 60 seconds on the iDRAC9 before moving on
