Microsoft Windows: How to Restore a No-Boot Windows OS with Registry Corruption

Instructions
- Boot to Windows media and instead of choosing to install Windows, click the link in the lower-left corner that says Repair your Computer.
- Choose Advanced Options, and then the command prompt.
- Run
diron each drive letter to locate the Windows folder as the installation drive letter can change from the usual C: Drive in the recovery environment. - Once the Windows folder is located, change the directory to
\windows\system32. - Run the following commands:
mkdir configBak copy config configBak cd config\RegBack run dir and make sure the files we are restoring are not 0 KB. copy * ..\*
- Reboot the computer and it should boot to Windows without error.
