PowerEdge: How to Gather LSIget Data From a Server

Goals:
The LSIget data capture script can be useful in troubleshooting and diagnosis of RAID controllers and disk faults. 

Request this log bundle for related faults in C-Series servers to assist with the investigation.

Facts:
C-Series servers with various operating systems that have RAID controllers and disk storage.

Example procedure for Linux servers only:

  1. Download LSIget for Linux
  2. Upload this file into the Linux System with WinSCP or SFTP. Put this in the downloads folder.
  3. Extract the file, and go into the extracted folder.
  4. Run lsigetlunix.sh as root with the command:
    sudo bash ./lsigetlunix.sh -D -Q
  5. The message Script done is received.

Example procedure for ESXi hosts:

  1. Download LSIget for VMware
  2. Upload this file into the ESXi System with WinSCP or SFTP. Put this file in the /tmp folder.
  3. After the upload is finished, extract the file from the command line, using a command with the format, 
    tar -xvf lsigetlinux_xxx.tgz
  4. Run lsigetlunix.sh as root with the command:
    ./lsigetlunix.sh
  5. You are left with a .tar.gz file when the log collection is complete that is extractable.
