Instructions

What is Secure Connect Gateway?

Secure Connectivity Gateway is Dell's Next-Generation connectivity solution. This solution integrates and supersedes Secure Remote Services (SRS) technologies used to enable dial-home communication in IDPA solutions. The latest SRS software version (3.52) reaches End of Support Life (EOSL) on June 15, 2023. SRS product users are allowed to upgrade their existing gateway devices to SCG. They may receive prompts to do so in the SRS software interface.

IDPA Support Status and Recommendations

SCG has been qualified for use with IDPA 2.7.0 and later versions. Appliance users with these versions are advised to upgrade or migrate their SRS gateway devices to SCG before June 15, 2023.

There are three scenarios for connecting IDPA to SCG:

  1. IDPA is not connected to SRS, and you are deploying SCG for the first time. The appliance may be registered using the Appliance Configuration Manager (ACM) component and subcomponent UI as described in the IDPA Product Guide (pg. 25) for SRS connections.
  2. IDPA is connected to SRS and that SRS is upgrading to SCG. In this case, there is no action on IDPA needed; the SCG upgrade moves all the connected systems to SCG.
  3. Integration Data Protection Appliance is connected to SRS, and a new SCG server is being deployed. IDPA must be moved from SRS to SCG server.
    • Download the attached srs_tool file, and place that on the ACM server in the /data01 directory.
    • Log in to the ACM as root through SSH or PuTTY and run the following commands:
    • cd /data01
    • unzip srs_tool_pub_en1.zip
    • chmod +x srs_tool.py
    • ./srs_tool.py unregister all
    • Once this is done, the IDPA is no longer connected to SRS, then you can follow the process in Scenario 1 to register IDPA with new SCG server using the ACM UI.
