Instructions

Scenario #1:

A VM is removed within vCenter.
The VM is unprotected within PPDM.

Expected behavior:

  • The state of the VM asset in PPDM is updated to "Not Detected."
  • If a vCenter discovery is in progress at the time of the VM being removed in vCenter, the VM asset state in PPDM is updated to "Deleted."

Scenario #2:

A VM is removed within vCenter.
The VM is protected within PPDM and had been added to a Protection Policy using a Protection Rule.

Expected Behavior:
  • The VM asset state in PPDM is updated to "Not Detected." The Protection Rule automatically removes this VM from the associated Protection Policy.
  • If a vCenter discovery is in progress at the time of the VM being removed in vCenter, the state of the VM asset in PPDM is updated to "Deleted."
  • The Protection Rule automatically removes this VM from the associated Protection Policy.

Scenario #3:

A VM is removed within vCenter.
The VM is protected within PPDM and was manually added to a Protection Policy.

Expected Behavior:
  • The VM asset state in PPDM is updated to "Not Detected." The VM asset remains assigned to the Protection Policy however it is hidden.
    • If the VM is not visible within the Assets list for a Protection Policy, this can be validated by searching for the VM asset under Infrastructure > Storage. Confirm if the Protection Status column has a value of Protected and confirm the value in the Protection Policy column.
  • If a vCenter discovery is in progress at the time of the VM being removed in vCenter, the VM asset state in PPDM is updated to "Deleted."
  • The VM asset is then removed from the associated Protection Policy.
