Block Based Backup Requirements
To ensure successful block-based backups, follow these steps:
- Ensure that block-based full and subsequent incremental backups of a client reside on the same volume.
- Create a pool with a single device to hold the block-based backups. This is a best practice to ensure successful backups.
- Configure multiple clients for block-based backups to share the same device or have their own device in individual pools.
Caution: If NMM uses a pool with more than one device, backups may still succeed, but restore may have issues.
To avoid restore issues, ensure that the pool used for NMM is configured to match the requirements:
Contain one single device in that pool.
