- Select the Scope - determines the detail of the message provided for the topic and level (normal, detail, advanced)
- Enter a list of event ids to exclude - type in the event ids to be excluded from the event filter (See information about types of event filter under the Additional Info section).
- Enter a list of groups to include - type in consistency groups to include in the event filter, otherwise press Enter to include all groups.
- Once these steps are completed, the message "Filter created successfully" appears.

- Enter event filters - enter the event filter created in Step 2.
- Once these prompts are completed, the message "Syslog global mechanism configured successfully" appears.
- Type the command
config_syslogs_target_host
to configure the syslog settings and follow the prompts: - Enter cluster name - type in the RPA cluster that should send the syslog.
- Enter the host to which to forward the syslogs in the above cluster - enter the IP address of the syslog server.
- Once these prompts are completed, the message "Syslog mechanism configured successfully" appears.
- Confirm the syslog settings by entering the command
get_syslog_settings
to view the current syslog configuration. - Lastly, type the command:
enable_syslogs
to enable the transfer of the syslog to the remote server.
Additional Information

NOTE: Syslog uses the UDP network protocol.
Any syslog leaving RecoverPoint and going to a remote server has a connection-less communication.
This means that RecoverPoint will not receive any acknowledgment or verification that the logs reached the remote server.
RecoverPoint considers the logs 'sent' once the logs enter the IP network and does not show a message.
If the syslog is enabled and for any reason does not leave the virtual RecoverPoint appliance, you see an error message.
As a best practice, after enabling syslog on the RPA, always check for the syslog on the remote server to verify succession log transmission from RecoverPoint.
