Instructions
Precert logging is enabled as a troubleshooting step where NetWorker Client Direct backup issues are thought to be related to the client's Data Domain DD Boost library. This utility can identify performance issues from the precert logs collected.

Preparing ddboost_precert.log
As a simple usage example, create ddboost_precert.ini on the UNIX root, or root of C:\ for Windows. The file should contain:

Preparing to use the script
Prerequisite: Python 3.x
Download the script from: Solutions NetWorker Tools (dell.com)
- Save the script to a working directory containing the precert logs as
precert-io-perf.py. - On UNIX systems, ensure that the script is executable:
chmod +x precert-io-perf.py - Run the script:
./precert-io-perf.py
Input Prompts
- Enter the full path to the DD Boost precert log file when prompted.
- Enter Yes or No when prompted whether to include MB/s for each I/O operation
Output Summary
The script displays a summary of the write and read operations, including:- Total number of write and read operations
- Average write and read duration
- Maximum and minimum write and read duration along with their respective throughput (MB/s)
- Total write and read time
- Percentage of total time spent on write and read
- Average write and read throughput (MB/s)
- Detailed I/O Operations
- io-write.log - contains detailed information about each write operation
- io-read.log - contains detailed information about each read operation
