Unity og Unity XT understøtter SCSI-3 permanent reservation.
Der blev tilføjet understøttelse til alle fysiske Unity-modeller og UnityVSA for yderligere to SCSI-3 permanente reservationstyper, type 7 og type 8. Type 7 og 8 er påkrævet for at understøtte visse VMware-funktioner som f.eks. Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) på ESXi ved hjælp af delte VMDK'er. IBM-klyngedannelse kræver type 7 og 8 til hurtig I/O-hegn.
