Unity e Unity XT supportano la prenotazione permanente SCSI-3.
È stato aggiunto il supporto a tutti i modelli fisici Unity e UnityVSA per due tipi di prenotazione permanente SCSI-3 aggiuntivi, tipo 7 e tipo 8. Il supporto per i tipi 7 e 8 è necessario per supportare alcune funzionalità VMware come Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) su ESXi utilizzando VMDK condivisi. Il clustering IBM richiede i tipi 7 e 8 per l'isolamento I/O rapido.
