Overview

Data Storage Manager Data Collector (DSM) for SC

Live Optics supports the profiling of Dell Technologies SC storage array platform (SC Series).  To collect statistics from an SC Series array, the user will have to connect Live Optics to their Data Storage Manager Data Collector. This article explains what the Data Storage Manager is. The Live Optics collector application must connect to a working instance of a DSM Data Collector to gather data from SC arrays.

Prerequisites for Running Live Optics against DSM Data Collector

  • You must have a working DSM installation that is connected to the SC array that you wish to analyze
  • You must have working credentials to be able to log in to the DSM Data Collector
  • You will need the network address (IP address or DNS name) of the DSM Data Collector
  • You must download the Live Optics collector ZIP and extract the Live Optics EXE from the ZIP on a system that can reach the DSM over the network

If you have each of these prerequisite requirements, you may proceed with the Live Optics collection.  Launch the Live Optics collector executable and follow the instructions for SC collection.

If you do not have a working DSM Data Collector installed, then you must download and install the DSM Data Collector, and then connect your SC array to the DSM Data Collector.
