Wi-Fi 7 Support on Dell Computers with Client Linux Operating Systems
Summary: Information about Dell computers with Linux Operating Systems (OS) and support for Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be).
Symptoms
The Wi-Fi 7 wireless standard released in 2024 and works across three wireless bands (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz) to fully use spectrum resources. Wi-Fi 7 aims to deliver astounding speeds with greater efficiency.
As of March 2025, Wi-Fi 7 does not have native support for Dell preinstalled Linux (Ubuntu 24.04, Red Hat 9.4, so forth) computers. Computers that have shipped with Wi-Fi 7 capable wireless modules (example: Intel BE200 series), do not have driver support for the Wi-Fi 7 features (320 MHz wide channel bandwidth, 4096-QAM, Multi-link operation (MLO), and so forth).
