Symptoms

No changes were made to the VDG definition or the devices belonging to it.   In this example, the VDG has a MAX_SNAPSETS of 48 with CYCLE_TIME(30,0,SECURE,1,1)

Following the microcode upgrade, start the VDG.

Cause

Beginnend mit Mikrocode 5978.479.479 wird die Beendigung abgelaufener Snapsets jetzt vom Mikrocode und nicht von der MFE-Software gehandhabt.  Außerdem umfasst die Anzahl der Snapsets pro Gerät alle VDGs, zu denen ein Gerät gehören kann.

Die Snapshot-Anzahl von 49 spiegelt die vorhandenen 48 für VDG MYVDG und 1 von einer anderen VDG wider, die nur 1 Snapset hat, aber überlappende Geräte aufweist.  Die Software sah nicht über die VDG hinaus, deren Zyklus für die maximale Anzahl aktiv war. Der Mikrocode berücksichtigt alle VDGs, die zur EIP0206E-Bedingung führen, und führt dazu, dass die VDG endet.

Resolution

Dauerhafte Lösung:
  • Für Mainframe Enablers 8.4 wurde PTF SF84106 entwickelt, um das Problem zu beheben. Es kann vom Dell Online Support heruntergeladen werden.
  • Für Mainframe Enablers 8.5 wurde PTF SF85054 entwickelt, um das Problem zu beheben. Es kann vom Dell Online Support heruntergeladen werden.
