Symptoms

Latitude and Precision laptops may not have a microphone input with headsets connected to the headphone jack port. The issue occurs when the Poly wire 5520 headset is in use. No issues have been found when tested with other headsets.

Affected Platform:

  • Latitude 9330
  • Latitude 9430
  • Latitude 9420
  • Dell Pro 13 Premium
  • Precision 5680

Affected Headset:

  • Poly wire 5520 Headset

Cause

This is due to the pole sense detection compatibility.

 

Resolution

Updating to the latest audio driver on the computer resolves the issue. To download and install the driver, reference How to Download and Install Dell Drivers.
