Removing the optical drive

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the:
    1. Side cover

    2. Front bezel

  3. To remove the optical drive:
    1. Disconnect the hard drive data cable and power cable from the connectors on the hard drive [1, 2].
    2. Slide the release tab to unlock the hard drive and optical module [3].
    3. Lift the hard drive and optical module [4]. Figure displaying how to release the optical drive.
    4. Disconnect the optical drive data cable and optical drive power cable from the connectors on the optical drive [1, 2] and lower the hard drive and optical module until it is seated [3]. Figure displaying how to release the optical drive.
    5. Press and push the release latch on the optical drive [1,2] and pull the optical drive out from the system [3]. Figure displaying how to release the optical drive.
