Removing the Heatsink

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove the:
    1. base cover

    2. battery

  3. To release the heatsink from the system board:
    1. Remove the screws that secure the heatsink from the metal bracket [1].
    2. Remove the metal bracket from the system board [2].
    3. Remove the screw that secures the heatsink to the system board [3].

  4. Perform the following steps:
