Dell PowerMax File Replication Guide

PDF

Restrictions and Limitations

  1. Snapshots are not replicated on the destination. Only the snap schedules are replicated. However, user can take a snapshot or attach snap schedule on the destination.
  2. When the snap schedule is replicated and there is a failure on the source side, the alerts on the source side appear on the destination side as well. Once the alerts on the source are removed, the alerts on the destination will be auto corrected.
  3. If system Write pending WP% is above 50%, system will give priority to the IOs. Once WP% ratio comes down to below 50%, SRDF sync will resume.
  4. When there are large number of invalid tracks that need to be synchronized between the source and destination, the start operation might report a failure to the UI (Unisphere for PowerMax) but it completes in the background. Once the SRDF state moves into synchronized or consistent state which is reported in the replication session page, re-run the start operation from the UI.
  5. Extend FS post failover when the other site is not available is not supported.
  6. Auto failover in case of disaster is not supported. One will have to perform failover of the replication sessions manually.
