Start Replication Session

To give priority to few of the replication sessions, the user might have stopped the data transfer between the source and destination using the stop replication workflow. This would result in accumulating the data on the source side. The user can use the start replication workflow to restart the data synchronization from the previous replicated point. Start workflow comes into picture to restart the data synchronization from the production site to the non-production site which can happen when the direction of replication is changed. Depending on the amount of data to be synchronized, the session will initially be in “SyncInProg” state but eventually move to synchronized (synchronous replication) or consistent state (asynchronous replication).

NOTE NAS Server inconsistency is possible. Before starting the replication session, ensure backup of remote NAS Server is taken. For detailed steps to take the backup of the remote nas server, refer to the Dell PowerMax Quick Start Guide for File.
  1. Select Data Protection.
  2. Select File Protection.
  3. Click REPLICATION tab.
  4. Click REPLICATION SESSION tab.
  5. Select the checkbox against the name of the replication session you want to start.
  6. Click Start. The Start Replication Session dialogue box opens.
  7. Click OK to stop the selected replication session.

This operation now starts the NAS Server Replication Session.
