Introduction

This guide describes the high-level design of PowerFlex appliance.

This guide is applicable for PowerFlex software 5.0 and later managed by PowerFlex Manager 5.0 and later. For PowerFlex Manager 5.1.x managing PowerFlex software 4.5.5 and later, see the PowerFlex rack or PowerFlex appliance with PowerFlex 4.x documentation.

The target audience for this document includes customers, sales engineers, field consultants, and advanced services specialists who want to deploy a high-performance, scalable, and flexible infrastructure using PowerFlex appliance.

PowerFlex appliance architecture is based on Dell PowerEdge servers; Cisco Nexus switches, or Dell PowerSwitch switches, and PowerFlex software-defined storage. PowerFlex Manager provides the management and orchestration functionality for PowerFlex appliance.

This Dell Technologies product uses an embedded Linux distribution that is licensed to Dell. This embedded Linux is only authorized to be used to operate the Dell product and only the Dell product.
