Removing the system board

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the base cover.
  3. Remove the battery.
  4. Remove the solid state drive.
  5. Remove the HDD.
  6. Remove the WLAN card.
  7. Remove the WWAN card.
  8. Remove the inner frame.
  9. Remove the heat sink.
  10. Remove the memory module.

Steps

  1. Locate the system board on your computer.
  2. Remove the single (M2x3) screw that secures the fingerprint reader metal bracket.
  3. Remove the fingerprint metal bracket from the computer and flip the fingerprint sensor over.
  4. Disconnect the camera cable from the system board.
  5. Remove the two screws that secure the EDP metal bracket.
  6. Lift the EDP metal bracket from the computer.
  7. Peel the tape that secures the display cable to the system board.
  8. Open the latch and disconnect the display cable from the system board.
  9. Disconnect the LED board cable, touchpad cable and the keyboard cable from the system board connector.
  10. Remove the four (M2x3) screws that secure the system board to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
  11. Lift the system board off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
