Removing the Heatsink

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove:
    1. SD card
    2. battery
    3. base cover
    4. mSATA
    5. keyboard trim
    6. keyboard
    7. palmrest
    8. display-hinge cover
    9. display assembly
  3. Remove the screws that secure the heatsink to the computer.
  4. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Lift the heatsink from the computer [1].
    2. Remove the heatsink from the computer [2].
    Figure displays removal of heat sink from the system board.
