How to replace the 2.5 inch hard drive on a Dell Tower Plus EBT2250

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the 2.5 inch hard drive and a Dell Tower Plus EBT2250. The procedure will also include removing the Left side cover and reinstalling them.

Removal

Left side cover

Identify the left side cover highlighted in blue.

Loosen the captive screw that secures the left side cover latch to the chassis.

Pull on the left side cover latch to release the left side cover from the chassis.

Remove and lift the left side cover from the chassis.

2.5 inch hard drive

Identify the hard drive highlighted in blue.

Disconnect the data and power cables from the hard drive.

Press the release tabs on the hard drive carrier and slide out of the hard drive cage.

Pry the hard drive carrier to release the tabs on the carrier from the slots on the hard drive.

Lift the hard drive out of the hard drive carrier.

Flip the hard drive assembly.

Pry the hard drive carrier to release the tabs on the carrier from the slots on the hard drive.

Lift the hard drive out of the hard drive carrier.

Install

2.5 inch hard drive

Identify the hard drive location highlighted in blue.

Install the hard drive into the hard drive carrier.

Using the tabs on the opposite side, flex open the carrier to insert the pins on the other side.

Flip the hard drive assembly.

Install the hard drive into the hard drive carrier.

Using the tabs on the opposite side, flex open the carrier to insert the pins on the other side.

Install the hard drive assembly into the hard drive cage until it snaps into place.

Connect the data and power cables to the hard drive.

Left side cover

Identify the side cover location highlighted in blue.

Slide the bottom edge of the left side cover into the chassis.

Push the left side cover into place.

Tighten the captive screw that secures the left side cover latch to the chassis.
